Hollywood Director and Screenlife founder
Timur Bekmambetov is a Russian producer and director whose work spans genres and continents. He is the inventor of the new storytelling genre screenlife and the founder of IT startups that create software solutions for screenlife storytelling.
Bekmambetov’s Bazelevs Group, an advertising, film production, distribution and marketing company has offices in Moscow, Los Angeles, Beijing, Nicosia and Almaty. Bazelevs explores and creates new film technology, including the latest cinematic technique, screenlife. Screenlife is an innovative digital language that tells a whole narrative within the frames of a screen.
In 2015 Bekmambetov produced the cyber horror Unfriended, the narrative takes place of the laptops of several teenagers who are stalked by an unseen figure seeking vengeance. This first screenlife film grossed more than 65 times its original budget.
Bekmambetov also produced the screenlife techno-thriller Searching starring John Cho and Debra Messing, that won numerous prizes including the NEXT Audience Award at Sundance and grossed almost US$70 million in worldwide box office.
His latest directorial project, screenlife feature Profile starring Valene Kane and Shazad Latif, is about a journalist going undercover to reveal the vast ISIS recruitment network in Western Europe.
Timur is focused on producing software solutions for screenlife storytelling, including an interactive video recording technology and post-production software solutions for creators of both feature length films and UGC digital video content.
