Rules of the 2012 Awards
1.1. Gamelab and the Spanish Academy for Interactive Arts and Sciences call for the "Fifth National Videogame Industry Awards" which aim to highlight the most important projects developed in the videogame and interactive entertainment sector in Spain over the last year.
1.2. Candidacy for the awards, in their different categories and in general, is open to all Spanish companies and professionals, and all productions carried out in Spain and published after April 30, 2011*.
1.3. The previous point notwithstanding, the organization can concede special awards to foreign productions and professionals.
*A production is considered "published" from the date in which it is available to the public, to real users and without limitations. Some productions in public beta phase may also be considered for the Awards if the Academy's Board so decides it.
2.1. In this edition there will be the following candidacy categories eligible for an award

- 2. BEST HOME CONSOLE GAME**
- 3. BEST PC GAME**
- 4. BEST BROWSER GAME
- 5. BEST PORTABLE CONSOLE GAME**
- 6. BEST MOBILE GAME (smartphone & tablet)
- 7. BEST SOCIAL NETWORK GAME
- 8. BEST NOVEL PRODUCTION*
- 9. BEST GAME DESIGN. Awarded to the Spanish game with the most original and addictive gameplay.
- 10. BEST ART DIRECTION. Awarded to the Spanish game with the most innovative and better deployed art direction.
- 11. BEST ANIMATION. Awarded to the Spanish game with the most complex and best approached animations.
- 12. BEST ORIGINAL SCORE. Awarded to the Spanish game with the best original score.
- 13. BEST SOUND. Awarded to the Spanish game with the best sound effects and sound techniques.
- 14. BEST TECHNOLOGY. Awarded to the Spanish game with the best quality and technical innovation.

2.2. Awards will be ascribed to the chosen productions, in accordance with the voting process described in sections 4 and 5 of these rules.
2.3. In the case of insufficient candidates for a category, the Directive Board may decide to not assign the award or may combine it with another category.
3. PRESENTATION OF CANDIDACIES
3.1. The candidacies for the different award categories related to specific products can only be presented by the owners of the rights of the games.
3.2. The Directive Board of the Academy may annually revise the format, as well as the distribution in the presentation, of the candidacies reflected in the previous section.
3.3 The deadline for presenting candidacies for the 2012 edition of the awards is Monday April 30, 2012.
3.4. The presentation of candidacies will be carried out by filling out and sending the official inscription card to the Academy including links to screenshots and videos of the game.
3.5. The Directive Board may exclude those candidates who do not strictly comply with these requirements or when the information provided is false, erroneous or wrong.
3.6 The Directive Board will inform all owners of rights of games via email that they have been entered as candidates.
4. SELECTION OF FINALISTS
4.1. Once the deadline for the presentation of candidacies has passed, academics will vote for four finalists in each one of the award categories open in this edition
4.2. The selection of finalists will close on Friday, June 1, 2012. The official lists of finalists will be passed on to the Directive Board.
4.3. The Directive Board will publicly announce these finalist lists in the following days, at which time the voting process to select the winners will be opened.
4.4. The finalist candidacies will always be made public in alphabetical order.
4.5. The Directive Board will be responsible for settling any situation involving tie-breaks or biased imbalance in these votings.
5. FINAL VOTING
5.1 All members of the Academy can secretly vote for their favourite in each category.
5.2. The deadline for this voting is Friday, June 15, 2012.
5.3 The result of the voting, only known by the Directive Board, will remain undisclosed until the night of the award presentation ceremony, at which time each one of the award recipients will collect their commemorative statuette.
6. GENERAL VOTING RULES
6.1. Voting for awards is reserved exclusively to those members who are up to date with their payments.
6.2. Both the Award finalists and the winners will be made public in their respective ceremonies organized by the Academy and open to the media.
6.3. The votings will always be secret. In the case of a draw in the final voting, the Award will be shared.
6.4. The Directive Board of the Academy will enforce at all times the cleanliness and secrecy of each vote.
6.5 The Directive Board will be the only body responsible for interpreting these rules in the case of discrepancy. Their decisions will be final.
6.6 The special awards and tributes where there is not a list of finalists will remain at the discretion of the Directive Board of the Academy and they will normally be announced weeks before the ceremony.
The presentation of candidacies and the selection of the award-winners will be in accordance with the following deadlines:
- The deadline for presenting candidacies for awards will be April 30, 2012.
- The voting for selecting the finalists will end at the very latest on Friday, June 1, 2012
- Voting for the winners will end on June 15, 2012
- The award presentation Gala will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012
8. AWARD PRESENTATION
8.1. The presentation of awards will be carried out during a ceremony (Gala) which can be attended free of charge by all members of the Academy and a companion, subject to confirmation. Candidates who have been nominated and those other personalities invited by the Directive Board of the Academy may also attend under the same conditions.
8.2. The venue of the Gala 2011 celebration will be announced with sufficient notice via the webpages of Gamelab and the Academy.
9. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
9.1. The participation in these awards implies the complete acceptance of these Rules, whose interpretation corresponds to the Directive Board of the Academy.
