JOSÉ CORBACHO WILL CONDUCT THE AWARD CEREMONY

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (7),BasketDudes and The Next Big Thing (4) get the most nominations

James Armstrong will receive the Gamelab 2011 Honorary Award

The finalists for the 7th annual National Gamelab Videogame Industry Awards have been announced. The awards will be presented on the evening of June 30th at the Sala Arteria Paral·lel in Barcelona -the ceremony will be conducted by the actor and film director José Corbacho.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow by MercurySteam has the most nominations (7), followed by BasketDudes by Bitoon and The Next Big Thing by Péndulo Studios, both nominated in 4 categories.

These awards distinguish the best work throughout the last year by Spanish artists, while providing a reference for the Spanish gaming industry and its companies, both to the general  public and the media.

This year,  the finalists and winners were not selected by a specialist jury -as it was done in the past- but by the members of the recently created Academy of the Arts and Interactive Science (except for the special awards chosen by the press and the public and the honorary awards).

The Gamelab 2011 Honorary Award is  presented to figures in the industry with a strong impact on the development of videogames in Spain.  It will be given to James Armstrong, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment for Southern Europe.  The award recognizes his professional career as well as  his success and commitment on the production of videogames in Spain for the Japanese giant, PlayStation.

The Audience Award to the Best Videogame will be voted through Gamelab.es and the Special Award of the Press will be chosen by authorized media attending the show. The winners will be announced at the award ceremony.

As we have already announced, Gamelab and the Academy of the Arts and Interactive Science will honor two of the most influential figures in videogames. This years’ International Award will go to Peter Molyneux for his 25-year career and the Honorary Award will be presented to Hideo Kojima for his career and influence on both culture and industry.
